Dec. 8 * Checked hazardous waste area for leaks finding none * Crushed dumpsters at transfer station * Washed sand trucks * Cut up dead tree on Old Winchester Rd. * Cut brush on Orange Rd. Tues. Dec. 9 * Began sanding all roads at 6 A.M. due to dusting of snow * Worked on York rake * Washed sand trucks * Greased equipment Wed. Dec. 10 * Tim out sick and Vin on vacation day * Checked all roads for storm damage cleaning up debris as found * Continued working on York rake * Removed remainder of tree butt in Cemetery at their request Thurs. Dec. 11 * Began sanding all paved roads at 6 A.M. due to freezing rain then re-sanded them due to freezing rain - dirt roads were too soft to sand due to rain * Made phone calls to Chief Peters, Chief Lambert, David Young and James Erviti to discuss potential serious ice storm heading our way * Received 2 calls from Shelburne Control at 9:30 P.M. about trees down in town - called in all personnel and began cutting trees on main roads to keep them open with assistance of Officers Kilhart and Shoemaker Fri. Dec. 12 * Continued cutting trees as ice storm continued - at 3:30 A.M. Officer Kilhart went to notify EMD Erviti of conditions in town requesting assistance - also notified Pat Lemon and David Young of conditions * Continued to cut roads with assistance of F.D. with our main effort to keep all of Rt. 78 open * Plowed and sanded roads as they became cleared of trees * Brought truck # 2 to Porter's for blown hydraulic line - repairs made * Tim was requested to EOC by Jim Erviti to assist in coordinating the emergency response effort * Jim, Vin and Bill all went home at 2 P.M. to get some rest * Jim , Vin and Bill returned at 6 P.M. and sanded all paved roads that had been cleared of trees - went home at 9:30 P.M. * Tim left the EOC at 6:15 P.M. to get some rest Sat. Dec. 13 * Jim, Vin and Bill came in to clear trees during daylight hours on Sat. and went home at 4 P.M. * Tim contacted EOC and informed them of what Highway Dept. was doing for the day Sun. Dec. 14 * Tim came into town to check roads and the highway garage - stopped in school to check status of what was going on it town
