Warwick Highway Weekly Log Feb. 22 - 28, 2010 Mon. Feb. 22 Brought truck # 3 to Pete's Tire for wheel repair Cut brush on Bass Rd. Tues. Feb. 23 Tim went on fire call Repaired washout on Shepardson Pl. Serviced chain saws in prep for winter storm Crushed dumpsters at transfer station Called in personnel to sand all paved roads at 4 P.M. - called in personnel to begin plowing main roads - called in private contractors and began plowing secondary roads - continued plowing all night Wed. Feb. 24 Continued plowing all roads until we began final plowing and sanding of all roads at 1 P.M. - went home at 6:30 P.M. - 14" of heavy wet snow Truck # 4 broke a hydraulic hose on plow at 1:30 A.M. and was out of service until a new hose could be made at Porter's at 7 A.M. and truck # 4 was back in service plowing Thurs. Feb. 25 Posted all dirt roads with 5 ton weight limit restrictions until mud season is over Cut down and moved dangerous trees that came down during snowstorm Did some wiring repairs to truck # 3 Cleaned up snow in village center and moved snow bankings around town Received call from Shelburne Control at 10:30 P.M. that Warwick Police was requesting chainsaw to cut up tree blocking road at # 313 Orange Rd. - tree removed as well as one located at 203 Orange Rd. Fri. Feb. 26 Received call from Shelburne Control at 1 A.M. of tree down possibly in wires on orange Rd. with Warwick Police responding - removed tree blocking road at # 211 Orange Rd. Began sanding all roads at 6 A.M. Changed cutting edge on truck # 2 plow Notified National Grid of tree and wires down on Royalston Rd. by pole # 7-50 Tim went on fire call Cleared trees and branches from roads around town from wind damage last night Tim began plowing paved roads at 2 P.M. - called in rest of personnel at 7 P.M. to continue plowing all night with Tim went home to get some sleep Sat. Feb. 27 Tim came back in at 3:30 A.M. as plowing continued - called in private contractors at 4 A.M. to begin plowing their routes - began sanding at 7 A.M. - went home at 11:30 A.M. - 9" of heavy, wet snow Truck # 4 quit running and broke down at 4 A.M. - T&R Custom came up to look at it - parts were ordered but will not be in until Wed. of next week
