Moore's Pond Beach Committee Meeting Minutes August 15, 2011 @ 6:30 PM Present: Kathy Connolly, Fran Prohaska, Gloria Varno, Dave Shepardson (arrived 6:35), Jim McRae (arrived 6:35), Clare Green (arrived 7:05). Called to order at 6:30 PM. Notes: Minutes accepted with changes as indicated. Kathy talked to David Young about reappointments and those reappointed (Fran, Claire, Jim and Mario) need to call Jeannette and get sworn in. Old Home Days Jim and Fran can't commit for coverage on Old Home Days. The rest of us signed up for certain hours to sell raffle tickets on Saturday and Sunday. Jim has lined up Annie and Terry Reed for music for the beach party being held on Old Home Weekend. Kathy was contacting Colleen Paul about having a float in the Old Home Day parade. Some of the local kids are interested in decorating it. Kathy has access to a flat bed trailer and can tow it with their truck. Clare wants to have free refreshments at the beach party. Lemonade, watermelon, and a cake celebrating the Beach success. She will pick the cake up from Hannaford's on the Saturday before the Beach Party. We will have a couple of baskets to raffle off with some beach type merchandise. Dave donated a roof rake which will be another raffle. Gloria donated a $25 gift certificate to Rock Ridge Farm in Northfield. So we will have 4 items to raffle off. Water Testing We had good results on the beach water testing so far and only a couple more weeks of testing left. Kathy talked to the water testing people and we cannot get a hard copy of the results until they become available at the end of the season and there is no online access. The only thing you can do is call and get verbal information. Kathy is going to have the Open Space committee start the process to go on a monthly schedule next year providing we have a complete clear year this year. Miscellaneous Discussion about 'dogs on the beach' resulted in a discussion about dogs not being allowed on town property. Someone brought up the fact to Gloria that there used to be a rule stating dogs were not allowed on the town common but that doesn't appear to be a policy any longer. The beach committee will follow whatever the town policy is for dogs. Next meeting scheduled for October 24, at 6:30PM in the town hall. Agenda will be: Review Old Home Days and Budget Review water testing for the year Work on Policies Meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM Prepared by: Gloria Varno Secretary, Moore's Pond Beach Committee
